Plan for January 20

Wow! The buzz coming out of the Scout Center this past Sunday was amazing. The kids apparently took their responsibility for their various countries very seriously! How exciting, that they were able to relate these issues that confront their worlds to biblical truth. Well done, leaders.

This week, the fun continues with

It is easy for these lessons to get just a tad socialist, probably, but this age group is just beginning to grasp big ideas about the world around them, so it is a great opportunity to connect every question to the Bible.

Also, if you play the musical grab bag activity at the beginning, know that there are plenty of silly clothing items here at the church that you are welcome to use. Just let me know if you'd like them! We have hats, wigs, costumes, etc.

Music with Ms. Judy on January 27

Much to Ms. Judy's delight, I am adding Alive! to her schedule once again. You will do music together about once a month or so, and your next Sunday will be January 27. Put a sign on your classroom door to let late arrivers know where to come, and meet Ms. Judy in Room 005 at 10:10am. Let me know if you have any questions!

Lent Curriculum

During Lent, the church will offer a church-wide series from Adam Hamilton, entitled Last Words. Adam Hamilton was also the author of The Journey, which you just completed. There is no children's guide for this study, but I am planning to re-craft the adult leader guides for use with the K-3rd graders.

I'd like your input - would you like to use the adult guides to create your own Lent discussion curriculum for Alive!? Here are the topics included:

Father, Forgive Them
Behold Your Son... Behold Your Mother
My God, Why Have You Forsaken Me?
Today You Will Be With Me In Paradise
I Thirst
It is Finished - Into Your Hands I Commit My Spirit

I am very interested to know what you think! Send me an e-mail (sarah at ccum.net) or give me a text or phone call with your thoughts. We would need to decide by February 1.

Thank you!
