May 26 - Final Week!

Welcome to your final week of the Spring 2013 semester! Thank you for your incredible leadership this semester as you have lesson planned, taught, and shown God's love to the children of our congregation.

Celebrate!

Take this final week to celebrate the semester and the end of school with your class. Donuts, orange juice and paper products will be available in your classroom on Sunday morning. As you eat snacks, ask your class

  • What was your favorite Bible story this semester?
  • What have you learned about God this year in Sunday school?
  • Where can you share God's love this summer?
You can also discuss summer plans, share your own plans with your class, and encourage them to come back each week they're in town to continue growing in their faith. Play some of the games they especially enjoyed this semester.

You will have music with Ms. Judy at 10:10 am in Room 005. In addition to snacks and music, the focus of this morning should be on celebrating relationships with the children and sending them off into the summer with prayer.

Please pray with your class before dismissing this week. Pray a blessing over each child, calling them by name. Take prayer requests, and write them down so that you can refer to them in the prayer.

Send Sarah your thoughts

While your teaching experience is still fresh in your mind, I invite you to reflect on this semester with your class. What worked well, and what was more difficult than it needed to be? Please send your reflections, ideas, and feedback to Sarah as she prepares improvements and changes for Fall 2013.

Summer Small Group Opportunities

This summer, you are all invited to take a 2 or 3-week rotation as a small group leader! You will teach the same lesson all weeks in a row, but to a different group of children each week. There are three rotations to choose from:
  • June 2, 9, 16 - only 1 spot left!
  • July 7 & 14
  • July 28, August 4, 11
Check your calendars, mark out your vacations, and let me know which rotation you would like to take! I look forward to giving more details later.

Plan for May 19 - Commitment Sunday

In celebration of Commitment Sunday, there will be no children's small groups this week. Please plan to attend one of our special worship services at 9am or 11am this Sunday. We will see you back on May 26 for our end-of-school-year celebration!

Plan for May 12

Happy Mother's Day! We do not have any special plans for Mother's Day curriculum this week, but if you wish to bring in a special craft, feel free. Please remember that some children may not have a mother, or may have a difficult relationship with a mother. Let's make Sunday a day to honor all the women who have helped us grow in our faith!

Stewardship, Week 3

We finish the stewardship series this Sunday with Lesson 4 from the provided curriculum. Please let me know by Thursday if you have any questions or concerns. This curriculum gives a good foundation, but you may want to supplement with other activities or materials, and I encourage you to take that freedom!

Make sure to remind your class to use their offering boxes this week to save up for our big church project! If anyone brings boxes in this week because they cannot attend on May 19, please make sure those boxes get to Sarah, Amy or Janet at some point during the morning.

Thank you!

May 19 - No Alive!

As you plan, keep in mind that there will be no Alive! on May 19. Rather, our entire congregation will join together in two worship services that morning, at 9am and 11am. After each service, there will be a church-wide celebration and project. More details to come on that, but for now, simply plan to come to one of the two services!
