May 31 - Last Sunday!

Small Groups on May 31

Can you even believe it?! This is our last Sunday together. Make sure to celebrate with your class - break from curriculum if you wish, and just enjoy spending time together, reviewing the year. Feel free to to bring in special snacks, as long as they are nut-free.

Thank you.

There is no ministry more important in this church than that of leading children closer to Jesus, and that is what you've done this year. Thank you! We really cannot thank you enough.

Curriculum

Feel free to skip the curriculum this week and just enjoy being together. However, if you want to spend some time in the Word, this week's lesson is the final

Pentecost Sunday

This Sunday is Pentecost, the day we celebrate the birth of the church. All are encouraged to wear red. There will be no Children's Worship for K-3rd at 9 or 11:15 am so that families can experience a creative worship service together in the Sanctuary.

Our kids have supported missions projects for his orphanage in Uganda for years, and Pastor Timothy is coming for a visit. If you see Dennis Gray escorting a stranger around this Sunday, you'll know why. Beware: his loud voice and laughter may precede him! Feel free to invite him in to your room to meet the kids if you are interested.

April 12

Welcome back!

Holy Week, Easter, Spring Break... we've missed you all around these parts! Welcome back to a new week of discipleship with children.

The Minors are leading this week with Brett assisting.

Plans for Next Year

As we make plans for next year's small groups, please inform Karen Larimore or Sarah Flannery if you are interested in leading once again and which age group you would like. You all get first dibs! We will begin filling all leader positions in a week and hope to have our leaders set by June 1.

Curriculum

The plan for Eastertide this spring was to spend 4 weeks talking about forgiveness. Due to spring break and illness, the 5 Alivers who came on April 12 did not cover that unit, so now we have an extra unit available.

I will let you all decide which lesson to skip! Feel free to choose from the Is Prayer Pointless series or this Forgiveness: A Second Chance series. Once you tell me which lesson you want to skip, I'll update the schedule.

Special Dates

  • April 26 - Confirmation Sunday, no Children's Worship (children's groups meet at 10:05 as usual.)
  • May 31 - Last Sunday of the regular year

Leadership Development Ideas

If you missed the Spiritual Growth Chart workshop, then we missed you! It was a wonderful afternoon with Dr. Cathy Stonehouse, where we learned a lot about children's spiritual development and a tool to engage children in worship.

If you have an idea for another workshop topic that would be useful in your ministry area, such as behavior, curriculum planning, or just your own spiritual development as leaders, please send those ideas to Mark Rosenthal (mzr0004@gmail.com), chair of the Children's Ministry Team!

Palm Sunday Processional

This Sunday, ALL ages (including you adults) are invited to process palms at the beginning of the 9 & 11:15 am services. Simply line up in Fellowship Hall 10 minutes before the service begins.

Children in 9am Children's Worship will go upstairs to process palms at the 10:05 am service, which means that those children will arrive late to your rooms this week. Look for a small influx of 9am worshipers around 10:10 or 10:15. Thank you!

Curriculum

The next two weeks will be spent on two lessons out of a unit entitled What's the Big Deal About Sin? This is an appropriate precursor for Easter, and after celebrating Jesus' work of Resurrection, we'll continue into a unit on forgiveness.

April 5 - Easter
No small groups

Special Dates

  • March 28 - Easter Festival in Norton Commons (www.ccum.net/easterfestival)
  • March 29 - Palm Sunday processional at 9 & 11:15 am
